If you come to one of my company’s shows, you’ll likely be greeted by a cast member in character, who explains who you are, why you’re here, and what we’re inviting you to contribute (if you choose to). This moment of arrival is intentional: it establishes the audience’s relationship to the world of the piece.

You’ll also encounter my production design, which creates an environment for the audience to inhabit for the duration of the show.

When creating work for The Ministry of Unplanned Occurrences, we spend time researching and playing within the social, physical, and narrative environments of each piece. We explore thematic motifs, the kinds of characters that inhabit the world, and the relationships between them.

As Artistic Director, I lead this research and design structured exercises that provide a framework for experimentation, collaboration, and playful exploration.
